Standardized Testing and Records
The home school laws in some states now require assessment of basic skills
yearly. Some states still do not have this requirement; however, are rapidly
moving in this direction. It would be wise for parents to do yearly testing
for their children to keep records.
The state of Pennsylvania requires a special test as seen below.

The following tests are used for nationally normed achievement testing.
Students are allowed to take any of the nationally normed tests.
These tests can be ordered from the web sites mentioned on the A to Z Home's
Cool Homeschooling web site listed above. Most of these tests are allowed to
be given by parent, but check the requirements carefully to assure proper
standards.

2. California Achievement Test (CAT)

5. Science Research Associates
6. Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS)
7. Comprehensive Testing Program (CTPIII)
8. Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT)
9. Peabody Individual Test
10. Woodcock Johnson Revised Tests of Achievement
11. Pennsylvania System of School Assessment Test (PSSA)
12. Main a portfolio of sample of children's work; such as
writing of stories, creative writing, or other workbook samples of work
