Your $10/month contribution to ISMK

Missionaries $10 per month “contribution” to ISMK explained.

You may have noticed that you contribute $10/month to the MK Ministry. You may wonder exactly what that $10 covers and why it is being automatically deducted from your (00) monthly! The policy for this $10 states:

• TRAVEL TO VISIT PARENTS ON FIELD – MK TRAVEL FUND – WB May, 1986 (effective 6-1-87) – MKs who were raised on the field may return to visit the parents overseas using missions funds one timeafter high school and before the end of their 22 nd year provided: (1) their parents are still on the field, and (2) they have not previously visited their parents using missions funds.   Approved trips are covered by the MK Travel Fund, which is funded by a monthly standard transfer of $10 from every missionary’s account. All MK travel is accumulated to taxable income for the parent; however, expenses are not covered for non-MK spouses.

Your monthly transfer goes into a special account that is held for MKs to be able to make a trip home to the field after high school. We know that this is a tremendous blessing to you and the MKs that are out of high school. I am so grateful that our leadership sees the value in an MK having an opportunity to have a trip of closure back to the field.   As a missionary, you should contact the appropriate area director to begin processing this request.

We want you to be aware that the funds are not used in the running of ISMK. Many missionaries have made a monthly commitment to ISMK, above the $10/month, which is what makes much of the ministry possible. Over the years, this amount has decreased, and we are asking missionaries to consider a monthly commitment to ISMK.
