Dear MKs:

You may be surprised to be hearing from me, but I wish this could be more often. I did enjoy being up at the MK retreat in November and having a chance to personally fellowship with many of you.

I’m writing to you on this occasion about the decision of the Committee to revamp the whole Summer School. This came as a result of many of our veterans who were coming home weary and wanting more of a renewal rather than a school. We did a thorough study by two different committees to see how this needed to be addressed, and the decision we came up with is what you have heard through all the reports. This is in no way a desire to curtail the MK program and all that it means to all of you. I know how tremendously meaningful this is in your life, especially when you come off the field. We’re hoping to make this program just as meaningful as the other was, even though it is a shorter period of time.

We trust you understand that this was a result of many, many of our veterans wanting a change in the program. We will do anything possible to make sure that nothing is eliminated that would be meaningful to you except for the shortening of the time frame. We may have to tweak this in the process. We’re going to try it this summer and see how it works. We will get back to you if changes need to be made. Your input is always valuable, and I trust that you will let Chad or myself know how we can make up for some of this difference.

Thanks for listening.

Uncle John
